1967 Fender Telecaster Sherwood Green Custom Color
This has been a family treasure, for many years. May be one of the last Fenders ever made with a Sherwood Green Finish. The serial number is 182071. Neck date is 3 OCT67 B. Not one extra screw hole, route, or break. There are a few chips in the Sherwood Green finish, but It definitely adds to the character. Quite a rare guitar Im told, (I didnt really know how rare until about 3 years ago when a friend informed me that it could be worth quite a bit) as there have been a few Jaguars around in the late 60’s Sherwood Green but haven’t seen a Sherwood Green Telecaster other than mine. This color was taken off the Fender color chart in 65 so this is considered a Custom Color telecaster. Its known as a transition Tele because of the style of tuners, and the Newer decal. Finish is cracking throughout the body. You can see the color darkened somewhat under the guard and cavities. The same characteristic cracking is going on on the back of the neck and headstock. Frets have NOT been changed, filed, or tampered with. Very nice Rosewood fretboard , curved rosewood veneer. Neck finish still remains original, and glossy, with no overspray. Threaded saddles, original knobs , bridge. All original parts, but cant seem to find the ashtray cover, I will look for it. It will come packed in the original 67 case pictured, the logo on the case is partly gone, no biggie. Has always been commented that its a very light Tele, it is much lighter than my other Teles , as a result its a pleasure to play for hours, she really sings, nice and resonant, so easy and smooth it really leads you to the next chord, every time you pluck a string you are enticed deeper into the melody, and a life of its own certainly takes on. I will stand up and say this is probably the best sounding tele you’ll ever play/ admire… If youre lucky enough to win. I have some other old Fenders but this one is by far the rarest and coolest.
