Mahogany neck slimmer Nut, Maple back sides and top, with maple center Block, Rosewood fretboard with Split Parallelogram inlays. Nice relic Vintage condition. Looks, Plays, and sounds as good as any 335, 55 , 45 I have played. Ok here is the story, I had this Guitar Stop Tailed and converted to Mono. The inserts are original 60’s Gibson and the studs also; the tailpiece is an aged newer Stop Bar. I have owned many Stereo Guitars and as much as Love the mid 60’s Gibson these guitars just do not pack the punch and sustain of the earlier 335’s and 55 mono’s. The guitar has it original Pickups, Bridge and finish, the neck was refretted with Jumbo wire and then the wire was reduced about 33% for a more broken in feel,,, Ax Plays great, Bends clean and clear up and down the neck. You can put thinner or thicker gauge string and still lower the action more. There was a touch of over spray on the back of the neck, the best Nitro was used. Guitar has that distinct 60’s sound,, the Bridge Pup is so clear and articulate, great for rhythms, or nice distorted leads, the A5 stands out, The neck pup is the A2 and nice and fat round with great creamy overtones when Overdrive is applied. These are by far the best low wind pups I have had,, Mirror Image of my 64’s maroon wire short mag Pat sticker pups. The Ax had it alterations in Nashville at the Classic Ax by Greg,, IMHO One of the best luthiers In the USA!!! The guitar has great bones weighing in around 8.8lbs, No breaks original finish, top has numerous ding divots and dents,, tons of checking and scratches, about 15 nice dings in the top. The Headstock looks great with beautiful patina as does the whole guitar,, I have a set of My Fav Gold Grovers on her,, U get umm I have had them for about 18 years,, smooth classy well broken in,, and they stay in tune. Guitar comes with it OHSC in great shape. No smells, Nice and solid, needs a new Handle,, Cheap fix if you have the rivet gun. Original Pickguard and Nylon saddles will be included.
