The story on this version (red and white striped) is that it contains the secrets of EVHs original 5150. It has always been our personal opinion that the guitars Eddie Van Halen Used LIVE in the Kramer Endorsement Era and afterwards were manufactured by ESP. Of course this would contradict rumors that a USA Luthier made the first Holy Grail banana headstock guitar. We also believe that the Red and White striped Frankenstrat used live was manufactured by ESP. As well it is our opinion that the Holy Grail Banana Headstocks preferred and used by Mr. Van Halen were all ESP manufacturing. Therefore ESP in Japan holds all the secrets to EVHs neck profiles and playing preferences from that era. This reflected within this version. These guitars were manufactured in unknown numbers with some speculation that less than 500 total of all early 1990s Eddie Van Halen replicas were manufactured by ESP in Japan. That was later de-bunked. More guitars were distributed worldwide from this ESP replica project. Additional information surfaced in the 2000s with the discovery of Japanese guitar magazines/publications that these guitars were touted as “exacting replicas” of Eddie Van Halens working/touring guitars. In addition rumors amongst collectors has surfaced stating that ESP utilized, for this replica project, actual guitar technician that worked for the VH tour crew to participate in the development of these guitars. In addition it is said that there was a United States press release delivered to the ESP network of dealers in the United Stated for this project; and that a few of these guitars were imported by and delivered to ESP distributors in the USA.
