Up for sale, a 1983 Fender Precision Bass Elite II in excellent condition and in good working order. A rare, upscale P Bass with active electronics, the Elite II was only made from 1983-85. This first year example has a gloss black metalflake sparkle finish, with two split coil pickups that have an incredible amount of tonal range. Whether you seek more treble-focused growl or thick thump, the Elite II’s intuitive control layout allows you to easily dial in the tone you need. And with a weight of 11lbs 12oz, this bass has incredible note attack and sustain. Dialed in with optimal action and accurate intonation by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this P Bass is strung with 45-105 roundwound strings and is ready for stage and studio work. The neck has a notably slender C shaped profile with lightly rounded fretboard edges and original jumbo fretwire. The frets show moderate, uniform wear on frets 1-5, with lighter wear beneath the A and D strings until fret 9 and virtually no wear further up the neck. The frets retain their full, original height and have plenty of meat left. The nut measures 1 3/4″ in width and the headstock has a stock gold tuning machines with the Fender “F embossed above the gears. The “E3″ serial number prefix on the headstock face translates to 1983, matching the codes on the original CTS pots. All of the electronics are untouched, with two three-way mini toggles as well as dual Volume controls and a master Tone. Aside from one replaced knob, all of the original hardware and plastic is accounted for, and given that the Elite series was exactly what it purports itself to be, all of the parts used on this instrument are essentially exclusive to this line! Cosmetically, the bass is in great shape, with the original gloss black finish which has tiny specks of metalflake sparkle for a more three-dimensional look when viewed up close. There’s light surface patina on the bridge base and tuners, a few light scratches in the clear coat of the finish on the back of the instrument, and one finish chip near the rear strap button. The white pickguard also has a light ghosting of a previously removed sticker on the treble side of the pick path. A form-fit, Fender-branded SKB case is included, along with the original pamphlet for the Elite series.
