Up for sale is a 1997 Ace Frehley Custom Shop Les Paul guitar. Guitar is pretty much in mint shape save for a couple of small indentations on the back of the body that dont go through the finish. This is 1 of 300 models produced by the Gibson Custom & Historic Shop back in 1997. Produced to coincide with the just launched Kiss Reunion tour. This particular guitar initially went straight to Japan as many of the models with the nicest tops were bought out by the Japanese collectors market. Much of the paperwork for this guitar is in Japanese as this was a Yamano guitar. (Yamano is Gibsons Japan division). It then got traded to another collector – who sent the guitar to Nashville to be re-fretted with Dunlop Jumbo fretwire by Joe Glaser. This is the fretwire Ace has all of his guitars re-fretted with. Joe Glaser is famous for his work – you can google him to see his reputation for top of the line guitar work as he is famous in the industry. The guitar was then put up for sale back in 2011 or so – which was when I acquired it. Its never been gigged and is an absolute monster of a player. It has some of the deepest flame Ive seen on these Ace model guitars. Its comes with the correct combination of 3 Dimarzio Super Distortion pickups (many of the models from this run came with the incorrect Dimarzio PAFs instead of the Super Distortions). Ace signed & numbered the back of the headstock. Please note – guitar is shown in a newer Gibson Custom shop case – but it comes with the original Black Custom case from Gibson. (Brown case isnt included). In addition – I created a custom shop booklet for this guitar. These guitars came out before Gibson made the Custom Shop serial number booklets – so I thought it would be cool to make one for this guitar. I used a real Gibson Custom shop booklet & used a p-touch machine to print out the serial number as well as a nice Ace photo of him holding 1 of his 97 Custom Shop models. I then had Ace sign the booklet. Again – this booklet isnt something Gibson actually released for this particular model & Im not trying to fool anyone – its just something cool I had made for this guitar. Guitar comes with all the original paperwork – some of which Ace signed. Im including 2 Ace signed photos, a rare Gibson Historic Ace photo (shown in pics) & will also include a cool Ace signed poster from the Psycho Circus sessions where Ace is holding his 97 custom shop model plus some Ace signed strings from the 2000 Tour.
