Staying true to the original 1961 SG design, nine trapezoidal inlays accent the bound rosewood fretboard. The headstock is finished to match the body. A mother-of-pearl Gibson logo inlaid at the center of the headstock stamps this instrument with a pedigree of peerless quality. Solid Design for Tight Tone. The 24.75-inch-scale mahogany neck is glued in a deep-set, long-tenon neck/body joint with a 17-degree back-angled headstock. The body and neck are balanced to achieve perfect cross-transference of resonance where they meet at the 19th fret, sealed with Franklin Titebond 50 glue — one of the strongest industrial wood glues in the world.
