The all-around versatility of a TV Classic makes this a great choice for rock, rockabilly, blues, country and more! We wanted pickups that captured the best elements of our favorite Broadcaster and Telecaster sounds and then some. The Twang King pickups have unequalled response to pick attack: light playing produces a soft, quiet tone and hard picking creates a harder, louder, and more dynamic sound than any comparable single-coil. We accomplished this with a combination of controlled-tension coil-winding, special wire, and hand-calibrated magnets. Both pickups are wax-potted twice for squeal-free performance. Tech Talk We didn’t model the Twang King bridge after a specific original. Instead, we combined the best tonal qualities of several Broadcaster and Telecaster pickups from the 50s and early 60s. This 920D Custom Shop Fender modified Telecaster features 11101-09 SM-1n Vintage Mini Humbucker, 11203-02 STK-S2 Vintage Hot Stack and 11203-15 STK-T3b Vintage Lead Stack pickups, Vintage tinted 9.5′ Radius neck with medium jumbo frets, Babicz Full Contact Bridge System and is wired in the preferred style of Brent Mason. Guitar is also fitted with Fender vintage locking tuners and is set up to perfection. The first knob closest to the 3-way switch is a volume knob for the Neck and Bridge pickups. It is also a push/pull series/parallel switch. The third knob is the tone control. All three knobs have a 500K value. Great for jazz, blues, rockabilly, classic rock and heavy rock. The sound is somewhat of a tonal cross between a single-coil and a humbucker. They’re brighter and livelier than a full-size humbucker with more’bell tone.
