Travel back in time with this classic electric guitar. Made in early 1987 by Gibson at its old Nashville, Tennessee factory. It’s a Gibson SG Les Paul Custom/SG’62 Custom. According to the Gruhn book, Gibson changed the model name from “SG’62 Custom” to “SG Les Paul Custom” in 1987. It is an awesome guitar. The original antique ivory white finish has evenly aged into a mellow yellow. The tuners have been replaced with modern Kluson Gibson Deluxe single-lines. The back of the headstock is stamped MADE IN U. With the serial number 80547638. Two of the four date codes on the CTS are fully visible, 1378650, for December 1986. The headstock is also stamped SEC because it was apparently a factory second for some minor, now unknown, cosmetic flaw. It has ordinary age and use wear, with various little scratches, metal finish wear, and what not. No cracks or anything like that. It’s in solid structural condition. There’s a knick in the finish on the bass side of the headstock a half-inch from the nut. The first three frets have some wear, but have lots of life left. The fretboard is in good shape. It comes in the original Gibson hard case. The outside of the case is a bit worn. The case is lined with pink fake fur. The case handle and all the latches and hinges work fine. The previous owner had it for decades and treated it like a baby. Her name was Morgan, and she loved it. Look, I sell lots of guitars. I don’t usually say this. But this is a GREAT guitar. I’ve been playing it today, and it just sings. It can be played with a lot of natural sustain. The neck plays well. It’s the real thing. It’s a great All-American guitar, ready to play. Scroll down to see 45 HD images of this guitar Here’s a 2007 Gibson Les Paul Classic Antique in a factory original Vintage Sunburst or Tobacco Flametop. I believe it is part of a 400 guitar limited run as one of Gibson;s 2007 Guitar of the Week. This one was has a really nicely flamed tobacco sunburst top, the SG Crown inlay on the headstock along with the binding. This guitar is in near MINT condition condition with very light playwear. The top is clean and glossy with a few tiny micro marks. The back is almost perfect with little, if any, noticeable playwear – see pics below. It has a nice dark rosewood fingerboards and the original frets are in excellent condition. All the electronics work perfectly. The neck is straight and she plays beautifully. It has Gibson’57 Classic PAF’s and the pots are all original. It has just been detailed. The front, back, sides and neck were waxed and buffed with a high grade carnuba wax. The frets were polished and the fingerboard was cleaned, buffed and moisturized with an instrument grade lemon oil. It was set up with 10/46’s, adjusted and plays very nicely. She has a slim 60’s neck profile and weighs a svelte 7.8 lbs.. Comes with the Gibson hardshell case, paperwork and accessories as seen in the pictures. We can declare a low value.
