Scroll down to see 44 more HD images. Here’s a 1993 Music Man Eddie Van Halen Signature Model in a factory original Transamber finish. This guitar is in good condition and has average play wear. She was born December 22, 1993. The top has some pick marks, light scratches and that kind of stuff- there’s 3 tiny filled holes on the top near the bridge, barely visible – see outdoor pics below. The plastic tuner tip of the “G” tuner was replaced with a metal one – the cracked plastic tuner tip is included. She weighs in at 7.6 lbs on a digital scale. The back is actually very clean and still has the protective plastic on some of the covers — see pic’s. The frets have mild playwear. She has a fresh detailing, fret polish and fingerboard cleaning and set up with 9’s. The trem has been calibrated and action is low. Comes with the Music Man hardshell case and paperwork – as seen in the pictures. This has been in our private EVH collection vault for over a decade. This guitar is ready to be properly appreciated, played and admired in the spotlight, not sitting locked away and not being played. We realize offering up these collectable and rare guitars at this time is going to bring up high emotions, and bring out all the keyboard warriors. Please give us a ring if you have questions. This Peavey “Flat Top” Prototype was built by Jim DeCola for Eddie Van Halen and was completed on December 24, 1995. This was the first prototype Flat Top made – it was referred to as the “Flat Top” before the name “Special” was decided upon. After having this for over a decade, on June 27, 2018 we took this guitar to the Peavey factory in Meridian, Mississippi to verify that is was indeed Eddie’s guitar. That is how we received the COA from Peavey. Knowing there must be more to the story we dug deeper and located Jim DeCola, who was the master luthier for Peavey during the Eddie years. We met with Jim on November 7, 2020 and took the guitar for his inspection and verification. We have included pictures of Jim with the guitar from when we met with him, and we are awaiting a COA from him that we. Jim DeCola’s description of this guitar is the following. This was the Transparent Black Peavey EVH Wolfgang Flat top prototype guitar handmade by Jim DeCola for Edward Van Halen and completed on December 24, 1995. It was referred to as flat-top before the Special name was decided upon. Quilted maple top (3/16 thick) and basswood back. Cream body binding (not epoxy-poured binding). 2 radius Birdseye maple fingerboard. Tilt-back headstock with shiny Gold Peavey logo. First version, small neck mount washers. Carbon graphite neck reinforcement. Prototype, machined, recessed truss rod wheel. Schaller tuners with cream tuner buttons. EVH Strap Eyehooks (extra eyehook added by EVH). Mic Adapter/cable strain relief (added by EVH). No serial number or wood burned signature on back of headstock. Hand-signed by Jim DeCola (in green ink) on inside of neck heel. Fernandez Sustainer added by Pete Skermetta at Fernandez Custom Shop. This prototype guitar was used by Edward Van Halen in the studio and shows tell-tale playing wear. It was also pictured on the cover, and in the April 1996 issue of Guitar World magazine. Billy Corgan is pictured holding this guitar on the cover and in the magazine. The backside of both electronics covers feature a signature by Pete Skermetta. The custom shop director for Fernandes Guitars. He worked on several of Eddie’s and also Steve Vai’s guitars. To add to this already majestic and storied guitar, it was featured on the cover of the April 1996 edition of Guitar World, where Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins is holding this very guitar and standing next to Eddie. This 1996 Peavey Wolfgang Prototype #1 built in 1996 for Eddie Van Halen as the first Wolfgang made by Peavey for the new Wolfgang line, and was used by Eddie as his personal, touring and studio guitar. This was the first incarnation of the Peavey Wolfgang and was personally verified by Tim Litchfield, that this guitar is the #1 Prototype. After having this for over a decade, on June 27, 2018 we took this guitar to Tim at the Peavey factory in Meridian, Mississippi (see photo below) for him to see and to verify that is was indeed Eddie’s guitar. He was like a kid on Christmas when we pulled it out of the case, and his excitement in seeing it after all these years was infectious. That is when he generated the COA, and we received it a few weeks later. In the following statement, Tim confirms that this is the #1 Prototype Wolfgang. It did have a stamped serial, where this one had a small sticker that likely fell off. The one that you have for a fact is # 1. 1992 Erine Ball EVH, Translucent Red, Serial number. Massimino Music, Fraser MI. On March 2nd 1992. I’m the second owner and have the original sales receipt! The guitar is overall in nice condition. The neck feels incredible, as it plays fast, with slinky low action. The locking trem system works fantastic, as you can dive bomb as heavy as you’d like… Coming in at approx. 7.5lbs, it’s one of the lightest ones we’ve ever seen! The pickups are super high output, and sound huge! I’ve replaced the volume POT, Tone Knob and added eye hooks. These Pickups are Killer! The neck feels great and oil finished.. The locking trem system works fantastic, as you can dive bomb as heavy as you’d like… Coming in at approx. 7.5lbs, it’s one of the lightest ones we’ve ever seen! The pickups are super high output, and sound huge! I’ve replaced the volume POT, Tone Knob and added eye hooks. Original DiMarzio Pickups are Killer! The neck feels great and oil finished..
