Very good condition 2000 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Elegant Quilt Top with a beautiful Peacock finish. My personal opinion is that this color complements the abalone trapezoid inlays perfectly. Ebony fretboard, neck is a slim taper approximately. 75 in at the 1st and. 90 at the 12th fret. Seymour Duncan Zebra T Tops. The neck is a 59N and bridge is a TB12 aka Trembucker. Have not been able to verify with Gibson or otherwise whether these are the original pickups or not but they sound good. Weighs about 8 lbs. Had a full setup done a few months ago so its clean and plays perfect. The only real flaw is the one tiny ding on the top that blends in unless youre looking closely. I posted a pic of the control knobs showing it. Other than that it has a few light surface scratches on the back of the body. If it werent for those minor imperfections I would say its in excellent condition especially 18 years old. No COA for this model year. Comes with Gibson Custom Shop case in good condition. There are some scratches, digs, some wear on the back, and some finish checking around the nut and binding. Overall, I would give it a solid 8.5 out of 10 condition. The bridge, tailpiece, tuners, pickups, pots, and nut have all been replaced. There are no cracks, repairs, or issues. The neck is straight with no issues. Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Elegant – 1998 model. Gibson Les Paul Elegant in Peacock finish with flame maple top. This 1998 – 20 year old Elegant is in great condition. If you hold the back up to the light you can tell there are no marks on it (mahogany) – so no one has put a strap on this guitar. There is a very minor blemish in the top but you would need to get your microscope out to see it. This is a chambered Les Paul and an early example of this process – so on top of sounding smooth with great sustain (Classic 57`s) it is not heavy (approx just over 8lbs). Although I like Les Pauls and have owned many – I really can`t play them as they just feel wrong to me. However I was very surprised that this Elegant felt so easy to play. Most likely the best Les Paul I have played in a long time. This is a one owner since new guitar and has hardly been played. The abolone inlays look fantastic in the ebony board and I love the headstock inlay (although that is personal taste). This guitar comes with Grover kidney button machines fitted as standard. It does have a few cosmetic blemishes with the most prominent being the plastic around the cord jack being cracked from apparent over-tightening of the screws. This guitar is in excellent condition and has 2 roaring 57 CLASSIC HUMBUCKER Pickups , Dynamic Sound Chambers for a more balanced tone and a AAA COMPOUND RADIUS ebony fingerboard with dazzling ABALONE TRAPEZOID INLAYS. The neck is perfect, and the fingerboard and frets show very little wear! The beautiful top is in great condition with only a few tiny dings (pencil tip sized) and some pick scuffing above and below the pickups, much of which would probably buff out! The back is almost perfect with NO BUCKLE RASH , and again only a few tiny imperfections. I changed the knobs to speed knobs but will include the original “top Hat” knobs that came with the guitar. I also have included the original “goodies bag” that came with it. This guitar comes from my collection and was not my main player. Only took it out of its case on special occasions. I hate to sell it, but it is not one of my primary instruments. My loss will be your gain! It looks, plays, and sounds great, and weighs in at around 7.5 pounds on my bathroom scale. Includes Custom Shop Official Hard Shell Case , also in excellent condition. I was asked to include a picture of the Custom Shop decal on the back of the neck and discovered 2 small impressions on the back of the neck where it meets the peghead. They were probably caused by a wall hanger in it’s previous life and I just never noticed. So, just to be totally up front I relisted the guitar with pictures of these 2 marks. The in no way detract from the beauty and play-ability of this guitar. It is 15-16 years old and not perfect, but the top, back and neck is shiny and gorgeous, and it plays and sounds great! They only made this model in the 90s. Original case, zebra 57 classic humbuckers (paf reproduction), abalone inlays (the only Gibson Les Paul model that does), single piece mahogany neck, carved figure maple top, cream binding on body and neck, chambered body (for weight reduction) this is an earlier production, so it does have the rare custom shop wreath logo on the headstock, which is more desirable. I have to say, most “professional” collectors never heard of the elegant series. They’ll even look at the inlays and say, “Gibson never used abalone” or it weigh 2lbs less than it should, etc. This model is the only one that did, and was made to compete with the PRS guitars, which was hurting Gibson sales at that time, hence the lack of pick guard. It plays perfect and sounds vintage like it should. I’m throwing in the Gibson strap with locking strap attachments.
