Build date November 1995, 30 years later in excellent condition. Still looks and smells like new. This first run of the Fullertons was a limited production. This one has beautiful grain Ash body with a Birdseye No V maple neck with a dark rosewood fretboard. It weighs 8 3/4 lbs. Lightly used with no fret ware. I’ve owned it since 1995. It’s a closet queen.

Up for grabs is an amazing 1984 American Vintage’62 Stratoctaster from the Fullerton factory. Vintage in it’s own right this guitar looks, feels and sounds like a pre-CBS in all it’s glory. The pickups have that special warm aged magnet thing that player’s seek in vintage strats. Guitar plays like a dream. All original except 3-way switch swapped for a 5-way, and two bridge saddles replaced due to rusting. This is a good one folks. Rare Leo Fender Signature Headstock G&L ASAT w/ MFDs and Case. Made in Fullerton, CA USA. This guitar is a 2 owner, the original owner was a professional musician who toured mostly with country bands. From what I was told he only gigged with a couple of years, and then started using another guitar. He has owned it since the 90s, mostly playing it around the house or at church. This guitar is super clean, kept in a smoke free home in what I assume is the original GL case. I believe this guitar was made between 86-87, due to the crinkled coating on all the hardware. Very cool look that goes well with the sunburst finish. As far as condition goes, it’s in awesome playing shape. Action is low, neck is very straight, frets have probably been dressed and show little wear. There are plenty of finish scratches, a few dings, and some minor rash on the back. What you would expect from a 30+ year old guitar that’s been played. The MFD pickups sound fat and twangy, when you turn up the tone. You can chicken pick with it, or crank up the gain and play punk or grunge. Made to Leo’s specs, these 80’s guitars are much better than what Fender was putting out back then. Should only increase in value over time, has the Leo Signature on headstock! Please examine pictures, feel free to ask questions. Maple neck and fretboard. 1984 Fender Stratocaster’57 American Vintage Reissue, Fullerton era. This is a fantastic player grade Fullerton. A luthier with 40+ years of experience did the following. Repaired the crack in the pickguard (it is not loose). This same luthier recently did the following (December 8, 2018 update). Installed a replacement string tree (he used an old one with era-appropriate patina). Filled the second string tree hole. Removed some shielding around the pickups that a previous owner installed. Installed a more appropriate orange drop capacitor (the previous capacitor was not original). Frets are original and there is minimal wear to the frets. The wear that is visible is at the first few frets. There is some beautiful patina on the edges of the neck; actual play wear from real playing. Notice the two-piece body. Many Fullerton Strats have three piece bodies. This guitar has a nice two piece body with fantastic grain. The finish is glossy and there is minimal checking of the lacquer on the back side of the guitar. This guitar has lived in it’s case in my smoke free home. In 1984 when this guitar was built, a 1957 Stratocaster would have been 26 or 27 years old. This guitar is now 33, almost 34 years old. The necks on this guitar is slim and comfortable. This guitar plays and sounds fantastic, and is currently set up with fairly low action. The original hard shell case is included, along with the stuff that you see. It will be well protected. I’m ready to let this thing go. This is an old update, for reference. UPDATE (November 21, 2018): I have taken the guitar to a luthier to have the shielding around the pickups removed. I will post all-new updated photos as soon as I get the guitar back. Based on feedback that I have received from questions asked, the shielding has been not desirable for many who are interested in this guitar. The shielding was not done by me, and does not impact the sound, in my opinion, but it is being removed. The current photos do not do the finish justice. I will post higher quality photos with better angles. Also, I neglected to include in the photos the original ash tray cover, tremolo arm, backplate cover, and envelope for springs. Early 1982 57 AVRI Fullerton Fender Stratocaster inexcellent condition. All original (2ndowner) guitar. Original duck foot case and all the case candy (except thebridge cover). Pots dateto 6th week of 82. EarlyV001527 neck plate serial number. Hasone rare red bottom and two very rare grey bottom pickups. Also has the plastic wiring. Early 1982 reissues used thin plasticwiring while all other reissues used black and white cloth covered wiring. Overall the guitar is in excellent condition. There is light checkingand a few dings and scratches. There issome buckle rash on the back and 2 areas that have worn through the finish, oneon the bottom and one small area on the back. The guitar recently had aprofessional set up and plays great! These Fullertons have been gaining in value over the last fewyears. This is one of the earliest 82sI have seen in quite a while.
