1 of 10 of the “True Historic Select” with grovers, zebra custom bucker bridge, era correct paint aging, and selected to be light weight. I’m not sure which guitar out of the burst book this was modeled after, but it’s an absolute monster. As you know, very rare weight for a non chambered under 8lbs. No real buckle rash, there are two small marks on the top, one on back edge, one on neck. The guitar feels insanely accurate to the 59’s I’ve played, and the top as you can see if about as close to perfect as you can get. Around 2014 it was painstakingly refinished in an aged cherry burst by FabGear (Jeff Levenson). Turns out the original Goldtop finish was hiding a beautiful flamed maple top with a subtle grain pattern. To complete the relic feel, all hardware was replaced by aged parts from RS Guitarworks. Gibson 1958 Les Paul R8 2020 Custom Shop Reissue Historic. This is only about 8 months old. You wont find a better 1958 reissue. It has a plenty of flame and it only weighs 8.265 lbs. It doesnt have any fret wear. The pick guard was never installed to show the flame. It is setup with a new set of 9s. There is some normal wear from me just playing it around the house. No bumps it is very clean. The light ones like this are what the stars play. They get picked through and are hard to find. I got really lucky. My son just turned 16 and Im having to pay for a new transmission so he can drive his truck. If not for this, Id be keeping it. My Les Paul custom was a gift from my wife so I cant sell it. For sale is a. 2001 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul’59 Historic Reissue in a beautiful Lemon Burst. With the original case and certificate of authenticity. During 2001, production of R9 models was limited to 500, due to parts availability. This particular year has been regarded as the best year for Gibson Reissue guitars. After getting and playing the guitar, it’s easy to see why, as this guitar is not like any of the R9s we typically get in. This guitar is in excellent condition, and in perfect working order. There are some light scratches and a few small dings. Overall, I would rate the condition a solid 9 out of 10. Everything on the guitar is original. There are no cracks, repairs, or issues. Sounds and looks incredible, but alas the chunkier 58 necks are not for me. The finish and factory aging on this guitar are stunning. The vintage cherry sunburst looks amazing and the top has just the right amount of flame in the center, fading off to a more plain top around the edges that really showcases the grain. The cherry in the finish really pops in the sunlight. The aged nickel parts and the finish checking on the top and head stock drive home the vintage vibe of this instrument. The Custom Buckers have the PAF tone you’re looking for. 91 – 1.00. There is no backstory that I know of, but the factory aging on this guitar is almost identical to the aging done to the Mark Knopfler 1958 Les Paul Standard which is the dead-on replica of Knopfler’s’58. The nicks and scrapes on the top match, as well as the faux crack behind the headstock and base of neck, and the wear to the back of the neck and body – all aging done at the Gibson Custom shop. I can’t find out why this’58 reissue’s factory aging matches up with the Knopfler artist model, but this is definitely your chance to own an outstanding version of a’58 with a master relic’ing job that typically goes on much high priced models. Guitar comes with original hard case (also factory “aged”) and goodies (COA, case key, tags and black switch backcover).
