Burstbucker Pro Humbuckers Gibson’ drive to recapture the magic of the original Patent Applied For humbucker pickups of the 1950s culminated with the introduction of the Burstbucker line in the early 1990s. The Burstbucker Pro features an Alnico V magnet (instead of the Alnico II), which offers slightly higher output and allows preamps to be driven a little harder to achieve a more natural break-up. Like all Burstbuckers, the Burstbucker Pro has asymmetrical coilstrue to the original PAFswhich supply a more open sound. The Burstbucker Pro Neck is wound slightly less than the original PAFs, while the Burstbucker Pro Bridge is slightly overwound for increased output. The Burstbucker Pro pickups are also wax potted to allow loud volume pressures with minimal feedback. A high-quality Switchcraft output jack ensures a perfect connection to your cable allowing the purest signal to leave the guitar. 2 Push/Pull Tone controls In addition to controlling tone, one is a phase switch which allows for new tonal flavors, especially when used in combination with the coil-splitting feature. Coil Tapping The bridge and neck pickups can each be split via their own push/pull switch on the volume knob to achieve a single-coil tone. This coil-tapping function allows you to instantly achieve brighter, snappier tones from this humbucker-loaded guitar, to replicate the sounds of other classic guitars equipped with single-coil pickups, and to return to the Les Paul Standard’s thick, warm, powerful, full-humbucking tone at the push of a knob. Frequency-tuned Fat Tap coil tapping creates a fatter single coil tone with great output and balance when switching from dual to single coils. Single coil configurations are specially designed to be hum-reducing. Neck Profile The 2012 Les Paul Standard is fitted with Gibson’ classic 60s slim-taper neck profile, which is the more modern, slim-tapered neck most commonly associated with the Les Paul and SG models of the early 1960s. A compound radius rosewood fingerboard allows for comfort, speed and precision at all points up and down the neck. It accommodates lower string height while achieving unrestricted, smooth, upper-register string bending. Locking Grover Tuners The 2012 Les Paul Standard is outfitted with locking tuners from Grover, which deliver ease of use through a standard tuner and positive locking mechanism that securely locks each string in place. Simply insert each string through the string hole, turn the dial on the bottom of the tuner to lock the string, and begin tuning. Each string can be tuned to pitch in less than one complete revolution of the post. These Grover machine heads feature completely sealed components with an improved 18:1 tuning ratio. This guitar is in very good condition and has light/average playwear for being almost 8 years old. The top and sides are pretty clean and glossy – just a some light indents and small marks. The neck is straight and the frets are original and in very good condition with minor playware. It has just been detailed. The frets were polished and the fingerboard was cleaned, buffed and moisturized with an instrument grade lemon oil. It was set up with 10/46’s, adjusted and plays very nicely. Up for sale, a 1946 Gibson ES-300 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. One of the first post-war examples of this model, this is a particularly rare yet documented variant with all Honduran mahogany construction, including the top! Strung with nickel 12-52 strings, the guitar has a dynamic, nuanced quality, with top end complexity that keeps complex chord voicings clear and balanced. The instrument has a nice. Ringing acoustic bark, with bold, round P-90 tones that deliver equal parts sweetness and snappy attack and sparkle. Few premier Gibson models were ever built with this particular set of features, and the scale length, tone wood choices, and electronics compliment make this ES-300 a guitar that could fill a niche in any collection or studio guitar arsenal. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this guitar has been dialed in with fresh strings and optimal action. The one-piece Honduran mahogany neck has a c. Hunky and full C shaped profile with big shoulders and fairly uniform depth, getting only a touch more slender at the nut. The bound rosewood fretboard boasts split trapezoid inlay as well as the original slender fretwire. These frets retain their full factory height. With moderate, uniform wear on frets 1-3 and lighter wear extending until fret 6. The guitar shows virtually no wear further up the fretboard and the guitar plays cleanly in all registers with no buzzing or dead spots. The original bone nut is intact and measures a full 1 3/4 in width. On the headstock, the guitar has features in line with its top ranking (and price point) among Gibson electrics in the late’40s, with binding and pearl inlaid script Gibson logo and crown. The tuners are a set of early’50s Kluson Deluxe no-line tuners (which replaced the original open back gears) which turn smoothly and hold pitch well with newer aged tulip buttons. On the body, the guitar features the original stamped nickel tailpiece, and this tailpiece is unique as it was not produced in-house at Gibson like most of their hardware. Chock it up to metal shortages during the war and Gibson gearing back up post-war to produce new electric guitars. The original tall, numberless speed knobs are intact as well and have a simple Art-Decoesque look. The bridge is a new compensated rosewood factory-spec replacement, as is the pickguard, which is a four-ply guard cut by MojoAxe to original specs for a late’40s ES-300. Cosmetically, this guitar is in remarkable shape as the photos show, with zero cracks. The nitro lacquer finish is 100% original aside from a s. Mall amount of targeted lacquer touchup for a few tiny screw holes where a larger input jack plate was added and subsequently removed (now virtually invisible). There was no appreciable reason for this plate and the mahogany around the jack is very solid. The guitar exhibits a. Few faint finish scratches and expected small nicks as well as light, vertical lacquer checking on the top. The neck profile has a c. Ouple shallow finish chips behind the 9th fret, and otherwise the profile is very clean. The original hardshell case is included.
