As the name implies, the Gibson SG Standard’61 Maestro Vibrola adds vibrato capability to the SG Standard’61. The Maestro Vibrola offers smooth vibrato effects and the classic styling of the Lyre engraving on the tailpiece cover. Standard features include a slim taper mahogany neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard. The mahogany body features a deeply sculpted body scarfing, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard and a 22nd-fret neck joint. The nickel plated hardware includes a classic-style Tune-O-Matic bridge and keystone tuners in addition to the Maestro Vibrola Tailpiece. The pickups are 61R and 61T humbuckers for a classic voice with added power and top end. Controls feature audio taper potentiometers and orange drop capacitors. Its recommended by the amp tech to replace tubes, they are original Gibson, This amp sounds great. There is some wear and tear on the amp.. Okay, The reverb tank is missing.. 1968 Gibson SG Special Vintage Electric Guitar Cherry with Maestro Vibrola

Up for sale, a 1968 Gibson SG Special in excellent condition and in perfect working order with a gloss Cherry lacquer finish and Maestro Vibrola tailpiece. One of the last one-piece mahogany neck SGs of the’60s, this SG Special has an authoritative, clear acoustic voice that translates well through the P-90 pickups with rich harmonic overtones. This SG sustains beautifully with a dynamic, glassy quality that lends itself to ripping drive and sparkling cleans. The guitar is featherweight at 7lbs 2oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and strung with a fresh set of 11-50 strings, this SG plays exceedingly well with comfortable, low action. The one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C profile carve at the nut, with lots of taper and a fuller, rounder shape as you travel up the Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The profile depth measures. 850″ at the 1st fret, graduating to 1.020″ at the 12th. The original wide/flat Gibson frets, having been recently leveled and crowned and currently show no wear. The nut measures 1 9/16 in width. The headstock is fitted with a set of vintage-spec Kluson Deluxe double line strip tuners with white buttons. This SG was originally fitted with a set of cheaper import tuners used briefly by Gibson in the late’60s, and the Klusons currently installed offer improved tuning stability. On the body, the original wiring harness is largely intact, with three of the original CTS pots dating to the 50th week of 1968, with one modern replacement. There is one small mini toggle hole central to the knob compliment which has been cleanly plugged with targeted lacquer touchup. As there is a very slight repair on the inside edge of the bass-side body horn, this extra mahogany ensures the stability of the neck joint. The pickguard is a modern replacement, while the original quartet of witch hat knobs are intact. The hardware includes the original bridge with “lightning bolt” compensated saddle, and this bridge can also be used as a wraparound to bypass the vibrato if desired. With that said, this vibrato is particularly responsive and smooth, and the break angle from the bridge to the vibrato comb is ideal. The vibrato base and spring are original, while the comb (where the strings anchor) and arm are brand new replacements. Cosmetically, this SG retains its original vibrant Cherry nitro lacquer finish which shows tight horizontal lacquer checking on the body, with some scattered small dings and finish chips on the body as a whole, and one spot of light targeted buckle rash central to the upper bout. The guitar has zero repairs or funny business at the headstock joint, and this SG Special is a professionally setup and recently serviced example with a resonant body, recent fret dress, and great sounding pair of pickups. Up for sale, a 1965 Gibson SG Special in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Weighing in at only 6lbs 13oz, this SG is incredibly lively and clear acoustically, ringing out with a bark and authority that only comes from a guitar that’s been consistently and lovingly played for decades. The stock P-90s absolutely roar and can deliver everything from glassy, articulate cleans to growling heavy overdrive with ease. Few instruments are as dynamic and simply soulful as this SG Special, which has been freshly restrung with 11-50 strings here at our shop, Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, and dialed in for optimal action and intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a C shape that’s notably slim and fast, gaining just a bit more shoulder and fullness in the higher registers of the fretboard. On the Brazilian rosewood fretboard, the o. Riginal wide/flat fretwire is intact. These frets have been leveled in the guitars lifetime and are firmly in fretless wonder territory, currently showing m. Oderate uniform wear on frets 1-3, with lighter wear just beneath the plain strings until fret 6. The nut measures a 1 9/16 in width. The headstock has been fitted with a set of modern aged Kluson single line gears which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. These tuners perfectly match the look and footprint of the originals and have arguably better stability. The electronics are 100% stock aside from a newer three-way switch, with otherwise untouched solder joints and CTS pots that date to’65. Both original P-90 pickups have clean bobbins, original winds, and stock covers. The “lightning bolt” wraparound bridge is a new modern chrome replacement from MojoAxe which is compensated for optimal intonation with a plain G string. The bridge works well with the original chrome Maestro Vibrola tailpiece, which has a smooth, responsive feel and original arm. The small batwing pickguard, switch surround, and reflector cap knobs are stock too. The nitro lacquer Cherry finish is completely original with no touchups or overspray and has gorgeous lacquer checking in tight lines across the entire body. The neck has been professionally reset, as the original glue had come loose around the majority of the joint, and the neck was reset to its original viable angle. There is also a very thin split in the mahogany which has been addressed, running vertically on either side of the forward strap button. The guitar shows a. Ssorted minor nicks and dings around the edges of the body from honest use, along with light buckle rash on the back and a few small finish chips on the headstock edges. Beautiful circa 1966 SG Jr. Finished in Heritage Cherry nitrocellulose lacquer sporting a highly figured Brazilian rosewood fretboard and Honduran mahogany body and neck. Finish is rich and vibrant with little signs of fade. NO cracks, NO breaks, NO repairs. Featherweight at 6 pounds on the nose. Plays and sounds great. Some dings, scratches and evidence of play, as you might reasonably expect from a 45 year old vintage axe. Appears to be ALL ORIGINAL. Pots date to 1965, so could be either a’65 or a’66. Original very hot P-90 ohms out near 9K! Plugged in, this is one sweet sounding Junior. Rings out like only old wood can. Very nice player and extremely attractive. Increasingly hard to find one from this vintage that is unbroken. Tuners appear to have have never been off. Vintage Gibson SG hardshell case with marigold interior in excellent condition included. Controls work perfectly with no static or noise. Neck is straight and it plays perfectly with low, comfortable action. Truss rod adjusted, pole pieces adjusted, intonation set. Just set-up with new.
