In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster, the Fender Custom Shop has faithfully recreated a Limited Release 1954 Stratocaster guitar. Also included are the original, then “Patent Pending” bridge saddles, which have been replicated even though Fender has long owned the patents for these parts. The guitar is in very good condition. It has a few light marks of use but none serious. A small crack in one of the magnet bakelite covers. The guitar has been beautifully refretted by a professional luthier using Dunlop 6105 Medium Jumbo fretwire which has improved both the tone and playability of this unique instrument. Certificate of authenticity serial number matching the number stamped on the plastic back plate. Extremely rare from 2006. These first batch custom shop guitars are a cut above. This is 1 of 20 made by Stephen Stern in 2003 when he came over tot he custom shop. They differ from the current custom shop guitars in the fact that they are all hand tooled by Stephen himself, and not team made. They do not have the custom shop logo on the back of the headstock and are undetectable from the originals falcons. This guitar took nearly a year to build, on the same machines and tools that they used on the originals. Most of these guitars went to artists. (Billy Duffy, Brian Setzer, Neil Young, John Frusciante, Tim Armstrong). I was lucky enough to snag one. The aging on the guitar is perfect, and this was one came with a period specific gold plated bigs. The pictures to not do it justice. I A/B’d this guitar with an original 55 falcon at Gruhn in Nashville. I spent about 3 hours playing both guitars, and examining the similarities and differences. The only difference was the the CS played way better, and kept way better tune. The guitars were identical. I reached out to Stephen afterwards and he let me know that he literally reverse engineered an original 55 and 59 that were on loan and replicated them in every detail over a 12 month period when he made this guitar. I also A/B’d this guitar with a modern custom shop falcon, and there is no comparison. This one smoked it in feel finish, weight, balance and playability. Category: Hollow Body GuitarsSeries: U. Scroll down to see 55 HD Images of this guitar- pictures inside Here’s a super early 1989 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster in a factory original Black Pearl Burst finish. It’s part of a early run from the Fender Custom Shop for Guitar Center back in 1989 – not sure how many were made – not many, that’s for sure. These were built by some of Fender’s earliest master builders – Art Esparza did the body and CD Sanchez did the neck – see ink stamps in the pics below. The guitar has some average type of playwear but is in good overall condition. It has some finish scratches, small dings and a few small chips – scroll down to see 50 more detailed pics. It has a TBX tone pot added, but the rest appears original – it came factory with the Lace Sensors and the Floyd Rose. The neck serial number is E9000041 and it’s made in the USA. It has just been deep cleaned and detailed. The front, back, sides and neck were waxed and buffed with a high grade carnuba. The fingerboard was cleaned and buffed. It was set up with 10/46’s, adjusted and plays very nicely. All the electronics work well and the trem has been calibrated. She comes with the Fender hardshell case as seen in the pictures – missing the trem arm. We can declare a low value. Fender Custom shop dealer select MVP 1950’s Heavy Relic Stratocaster custom built by John Cruz. This represents one of Fenders’ finest guitars. Premium woods, 9.5 fingerboard, John Cruz custom voiced pickups, 6105 frets and custom hardware. Includes case candy, certificates, Trem bar, Trem springs etc. He does not use it as he plays acoustic only and the guitar has been sitting in is very nice case “relicing”. Together we do not know much about it other than it sounds unbelievable and plays great. Just put new Elixer 10’s on it but that is all it needed. Honestly this is probably the finest Stratocaster I have ever seen and played. The string to string balance is really amazing. Brown custom shop HSC in great condition.
