PRS McCarty in Black Cherry, serial number dates it to 2000. Very nicely figured cap (not a’10’ top) finished in Black Cherry. Two humbuckers with push-pull tone pot to activate coil tap. The guitar is in very good condition for its age. I have tried to make the guitar look as bad as possible in the pictures – you are welcome to come and view the guitar. Neck is straight and true. Some normal swirling on the finish. Small chip on the lower horn (see picture 7). Some small scratches on the top half of the body (see picture 8) – not as noticeable in natural light as the picture. Pictured above is an original 2002 PAUL REED SMITH HOLLOWBODY II McCARTY TEN TOP Electric Guitar. I got this guitar from my friend who was the original owner. The guitar has been used only in our smoke free home studio. This has been a great light weight guitar with a nice big sound and a comfortable playing neck. The “MODCAT” Decoder shows this as having a Figured Maple Ten Top, an East Indian R. Osewood Fingerboard, Tri-Color Sunburst and Original Solid Birds Inlays. There is no damage or repairs and only shows light wear (nothing major, this is a beautiful guitar). The last two photos above show two tiny spots; one on the left horn binding and one near the left “F” hole. We operate a full time guitar shop in the suburbs of Nashville, where handcrafted instruments are our specialty. Ted McCartys presence on the guitar world has been influential since the day he stepped in to the Gibson offices as their president. Like Leo Fender, never a player himself, he designed some of the most iconic instruments ever seen. As the president of Gibson from 1948 to 1965 he oversaw the design, and production of the Les Paul, the ES-335, the tune-o-matic bridge system, and the venerable ES-175 which has never been out of production since its introduction in 1949. The McCarty 594 is a vintage-inspired instrument that is at once incredibly familiar and effortlessly playable. Whether you are looking for rich, authentic, vintage humbucking tones or nuanced, sweet singlecoil sounds, the McCarty 594 can seamlessly master both sonic territories thanks to the 58/15 LT pickups and push/pull coil taps on the tone controls. The electronics layout, a few key specifications, and PRS craftsmanship combine in the McCarty 594 to create an instrument that plays in tune, is intonated the entire length of the neck, and feels like a guitar that you’ve been playing forever. A new Pattern Vintage neck carve, which shares the same width measurements as PRS’s Pattern neck but is slightly thicker front to back and features an asymmetrical carve with a little less meat on the treble side and a little more meat on the bass side of the neck. Tweaked Phase III tuners have an added set screw that pulls the tuner’s gear and worm together (while “locking” over the worm to prevent slipping) to promote tone transfer from the string directly into the guitar with as little energy as possible being detracted. The tuner functions identically to standard Phase III tuners for re-stringing. Set screws must NOT be adjusted outside of the PRS factory. Making any adjustments to this feature may cause the tuner to stop functioning properly. A 24.594 scale length, just slightly longer than 24.5 and where the model gets its name! This instrument is in Excellent + Condition with only some light surface scratches on the back as well as a few scuffs on the pickups. These are hard to detect with the eye.
