PHYSICAL CONDITION: Good- This striking guitar is in sturdy physical shape, showing a delicate touch of cosmetic aging while having that just-right feel of a well-made guitar from the 80s that’s both familiar and still as exciting as when it was new. The gorgeous finish has turned a unique goldish color over time, and is still a looker underneath an assortment of minor scratches and dents. Further light scratching can be found up and down the body, while some chips in the paint can be seen along the angular edges of this guitar. Fantastic shape overall, the main note to be aware of is that the upper section of the TOPLOK locking nut is missing, so this feature does not currently operate as originally designed. Also, both strap buttons have been removed, making this guitar currently keen for seated playing only. Brilliant guitar all in all! WORKING CONDITION: Good – A well-loved, well-played axe of a renown shredder, this Series V is a remarkable instrument from a speedster on the strings. Both the volume and tone controls work perfectly, as does the 3-way toggle switch. Tremolo bridge system works terrific making fine-tuning a breeze. Both pickups work perfectly and sound fantastic! This guitar does need some fretwork, however. The 5th fret buzzes across all strings, while many spots (especially past the 12th fret) buzz on at least a couple strings. Peavey Flat Top Prototype Wolfgang Eddie Van Halen Owned EVH Guitar w Magazine. The guitar pictured is the actual guitar you will receive! This has been in our private EVH collection vault for over a decade. This guitar is ready to be properly appreciated, played and admired in the spotlight, not sitting locked away and not being played. We realize offering up these collectable and rare guitars at this time is going to bring up high emotions, and bring out all the keyboard warriors. Please give us a ring if you have questions. This Peavey “Flat Top” Prototype was built by Jim DeCola for Eddie Van Halen and was completed on December 24, 1995. This was the first prototype Flat Top made – it was referred to as the “Flat Top” before the name “Special” was decided upon. After having this for over a decade, on June 27, 2018 we took this guitar to the Peavey factory in Meridian, Mississippi to verify that is was indeed Eddie’s guitar. That is how we received the COA from Peavey. Knowing there must be more to the story we dug deeper and located Jim DeCola, who was the master luthier for Peavey during the Eddie years. We met with Jim on November 7, 2020 and took the guitar for his inspection and verification. We have included pictures of Jim with the guitar from when we met with him, and we are awaiting a COA from him that we. Jim DeCola’s description of this guitar is the following. This was the Transparent Black Peavey EVH Wolfgang Flat top prototype guitar handmade by Jim DeCola for Edward Van Halen and completed on December 24, 1995. It was referred to as flat-top before the Special name was decided upon. Quilted maple top (3/16 thick) and basswood back. Cream body binding (not epoxy-poured binding). 2 radius Birdseye maple fingerboard. Tilt-back headstock with shiny Gold Peavey logo. First version, small neck mount washers. Carbon graphite neck reinforcement. Prototype, machined, recessed truss rod wheel. Schaller tuners with cream tuner buttons. EVH Strap Eyehooks (extra eyehook added by EVH). Mic Adapter/cable strain relief (added by EVH). No serial number or wood burned signature on back of headstock. Hand-signed by Jim DeCola (in green ink) on inside of neck heel. Fernandez Sustainer added by Pete Skermetta at Fernandez Custom Shop. This prototype guitar was used by Edward Van Halen in the studio and shows tell-tale playing wear. It was also pictured on the cover, and in the April 1996 issue of Guitar World magazine. Billy Corgan is pictured holding this guitar on the cover and in the magazine. The backside of both electronics covers feature a signature by Pete Skermetta. The custom shop director for Fernandes Guitars. He worked on several of Eddie’s and also Steve Vai’s guitars. To add to this already majestic and storied guitar, it was featured on the cover of the April 1996 edition of Guitar World, where Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins is holding this very guitar and standing next to Eddie. This 1996 Peavey Wolfgang Prototype #1 built in 1996 for Eddie Van Halen as the first Wolfgang made by Peavey for the new Wolfgang line, and was used by Eddie as his personal, touring and studio guitar. This was the first incarnation of the Peavey Wolfgang and was personally verified by Tim Litchfield, that this guitar is the #1 Prototype. After having this for over a decade, on June 27, 2018 we took this guitar to Tim at the Peavey factory in Meridian, Mississippi (see photo below) for him to see and to verify that is was indeed Eddie’s guitar. He was like a kid on Christmas when we pulled it out of the case, and his excitement in seeing it after all these years was infectious. That is when he generated the COA, and we received it a few weeks later. In the following statement, Tim confirms that this is the #1 Prototype Wolfgang. It did have a stamped serial, where this one had a small sticker that likely fell off. The one that you have for a fact is # 1. The backside of both electronics covers feature a signature by Pete Skermetta, who installed the sustainer electronics when he was. The custom shop director for Fernandes Guitars. The 12″-16″ compound radius fretboard is an Eddie staple for the fastest possible playing experience. And the attachment added to the bottom of the guitar stretched the chord out and away from the body to avoid becoming tangled. The Deluxe 59’er Sunlight Special is a Les Paul copy that’s really cool; it’s got a maple fingerboard. You don’t see many Les Pauls with maple fingerboards, and it has an amazing tone. DESCRIPTION – This listing is for a 1977 Ibanez Deluxe 59’er “Les Paul-style” electric guitar from the personal collection of guitarist Paul Gilbert. Guitar Weight – 8.82 lbs. Nut Width – 1-11/16. Scale Length – 24-3/4. Original Super 70’s Pickups! This guitar was featured in an issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine. The magazine is included in the sale. The weight is a comfortable 8.82 lbs. The pickups are Super 70’s which have that HUGE “PAF” sound from the 70’s and handle a multitude of amps from a Fender Blues Junior to a Peavey 5153 with ease. ACCESSORIES – Includes gig bag that came with it from Gilbert, Gilbert picks, Gilbert guitar strap, Gilbert VIP badges and Certificate of Authenticity signed by Paul. PHYSICAL CONDITION – Very good. The guitar shows normal signs of use; a few prominent dings around the edges of the body, as well as various small scuffs here and there and light picks marks on the pick guard. Additionally, there are noticeable chips in the body’s finish at the neck joint and under one of the control knobs. (See Photos) However, this instrument has been well-maintained over the years and is in overall great shape! WORKING CONDITION – Very good. Two of the control knobs are not wired to anything (done by Paul), while the other two serve as master tone and volume. The guitar sounds terrific and plays beautifully! This is a Tobacco Burst finished Custom Shop guitar, which was played by Slash on the 2015 tour with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. This is one of Blackie’s owned and stage-used BC Rich Warlock guitars. This guitar was used by Blackie as backup to his primary #1 Warlock and did get extensively used during the KFD Tour. Check out YouTube for the Secaucus NY 1998 show to see this guitar in action for the whole show. This Warlock differs from his #1 Warlock in that it has white binding and dot inlays (instead of diamond inlays) on the neck. COA signed by Blackie attests this Warlock was custom made for Blackie in 1986, this guitar has the autograph of Bernie Rico, Sr. On the back of the headstock. Both guitar and case have not been cleaned since last used by Blackie on 10/7/2001. The guitar and the case show the wear and tear of traveling. Only displayed by private collector since then. Again for the photos, a small piece of paper is placed on the 22nd fret of the guitar to conceal the imprinted serial number. Guaranteed authentic, but such details are for the new owners info only. Definitely a rare, one-of-a-kind WASP collectible. And I know there’s lots of WASP fans out there! ONE PHOTO SHOWS OTHER BLACKIE GUITARS NOT FOR SALE. The Certificate of Authenticity reads as follows. This letter will serve as provenance and Certificate of Authenticity for one B. Rich Warlock #2, and its original case. This Guitar is part of the personal collection of W. Guitarist and Lead Vocalist Blackie Lawless. This Guitar was custom made for Blackie by B. Rich in 1986 and it bears the original autograph-signature of Bernie Rico, Sr. Rich on the back of the head-stock, protected under a coat of clear lacquer. The Guitar has been used along with the B. Rich Warlock #1 on the Inside the Electric Circus Tour and every life performance of every tour since then with the exception of the Headless Children Tour. In addition that, this instrument has also been used and displayed at world renowned shows such as Waken Open Air, Swedish Rock Festival, Gods of Metal etc, as well as in countless photos and videos. This beautiful guitar is made of mahogany neck and body. If features custom white binding around the body, neck and the head-stock and circular shape inlay markers on its fretboard. It also features one single volume knob which is referred to as a speed knob which were an innovation by W. In the early 80s because o fits easy use during liver performances. The case features the name W. Handwritten on a piece of white masking tape on the front, and on both front and back of the case the inscription W. Guitar Coffin #4 also handwritten on a piece of masking tape. On the handle, there is still an LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) sticker from one of its multiple travels. Both the guitar and the case have not been cleaned since the last show they were used on at the Las Vegas House of Blues on October 7th 2001. This letter will serve as a life-time guarantee that the above is true and accurate. I have added a new photo. It had many old labels on it. I do not have the whole carton, but I did save a cut section with previous labels. Again, I have edited the picture for privacy of the addresses, however they do appear upon the actual labels.
