Guitar Center subsequently loaned the original instrument to Gibson Custom so that it could be meticulously measured and recreated by Gibson’s expert luthiers in preparation for the limited edition Crossroads model. It is number 76 of 250 made, and only 175 of those in the US! It is even signed by Eric Clapton, and comes complete with the distressed case which has the “Cream” logo stenciled on it. It would be misleading to say it is in mint condition, but it is in exact condition from when I bought it new and put it in a display case. The guitar has the identical buckle rash on the back that was created by Eric Clapton’s 1970s belt buckles during the time he was with Cream. It has the Hare Krishna sticker on the back of the headstock that was given to him by his buddy, George Harrison, and the case was recreated to show the Cream stenciling and road-worn look.
