Gorgeous tone on this reliable, great looking, gig-ready vintage Gibson archtop guitar. Very well taken care of cosmetically for its age, and no playability issues. Its the perfect guitar for a working musician — wood that only sounds this good after aging 45 years, with some of the critical hardware/electronics and case upgraded to be reliable and sound better in real world gigging situations. Schaller tuning machines for precise intonation, and pickguard replaced with custom made cream colored, 3-ply vintage style guard. Also included is a beautiful, hardwood pickguard that the previous owner had made with its own mounting hardware as an alternate look if you prefer. The neck is a very playable D-shape and not too chunky. Note the caliper measurements of the neck at the nut and 12th fret. These are as accurately as I can hold the calipers, reflect measuring with the strings on, and include the fret itself. The previous owner had the guitar refretted, and my guitar tech says it looks like the fingerboard may have also been planed. The frets are in good shape and have plenty of life on them! There is a slight discoloration on the back of the neck where a chip has been professionally filled. This is cosmetic only (I don’t even notice it when I play). Also note 2 small black caps covering small holes near the pickguard — these were put in place of extra switches the previous owner had installed and later removed.
