Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 R7 Les Paul (2004) Reshaped R9 1959 Neck
2004 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 (R7) Les Paul with what is probably the coolest serial number ever… This one had several changes before I acquired it so, to the best of my knowledge, heres the rundown.. 1 The neck was reshaped back in 2014 by Phil Jacoby of Philtone Guitar Company so you know that it was done right (feel free to research his reputation). I have it at. 87 1st fret and 1.00 12th fret. It feels very similar to my 2018 R9 (the shoulders might be a hint softer but its tough to say for sure) with the new 2018 neck carve. So, if you always wanted a Historic quality R7 without that enormous neck this one might be for you. 2 It now has RS Fralin aged humbuckers, a RS wiring kit, and RS tuners/inserts. 3 It has Pigtail stoptail/bushings and Dead Mint Club knob/pup selector rings/bushing toggle. 4 A Bone nut has been professional installed. The COA and original parts are long gone but this one is obviously more of an awesome player vs. The original case is in very good condition and works perfectly. Condition: Very good is quite safe but some would call it excellent for its age. The top is still gorgeous with no lacquer checking yet. There are some light impressions scuffs here and there and one more noticeable impression in the upper bout that you can see in the pictures. There is some light worming on the back and some age appropriate aging/wear along the neck and binding. This is all good old fashioned playwear and I think that it is getting cooler every year. Its nowhere near relic territory though. Youll have to take it there yourself. The fretboard is dark and gorgeous (none of that light washed out garbage rosewood that you see so much of these days). The frets are showing some light wear on the first four or so but have plenty of life left. Weight: This one is NOT weight-relieved and my high tech bathroom scale has it at a fraction under 9 pounds so lets call it 9 even. I still love it a ton but a new 2018 R9 in the household has resulted in an ultimatum from the wife and Id like to keep her (for now I guess).
