Fender USA Bullet Series Electric Guitar 1982
This Fender S1 Bullet Deluxe was built late 1981 to early 1982 in the USA. The neck is dated 1981 but this model did not actually come out until 82. The 1981 model was a single cutaway version so this was most likely one of the first of these models to hit the streets. It features 2 single coil pickups and a hardtail bridge that is actually part of the metal pickguard! Maple neck and fretboard, volume tone and a 3 way switch, blonde finish. Comes with a nice hardshell tweed case! Some other info that was just emailed to us by a helpful guy that is well informed on these guitars.. The Bullet necks were exactly the same as telecaster necks, made on the same jigs etc, but most with a slimmer D profile to suit the market profile of students, this mainly applies to the maple necks, as the earlier rosewood necks came in all sorts of profiles & differing radius measurements. With that said you have one of the earlier 1982 Bullets, as it has a maple neck with a walnut skunk stripe, these necks were left over from the original tele run & used up until they ran out, they appear on all 5 models of the 2nd version USA Fender Bullet. The concept from Fender then onwards, was that the Bullet range (all 5 versions) had maple necks with a maple skunk (no rosewood), this was done to tell them apart from other Fender guitars, as players were already using Bullet necks on teles, a telling thing in my opinion, it reinforces the fact that Fender used standard parts on student ranges like the Mustang in the 60’s, which were on sale in patriotic Red, White & Blue, the same colours that were extra cost options Dakota Red, Olympic White, Daphne Blue on any other top range Fender guitar. The Bullet is no exception, the hardware & electrics are exactly the same as any other Fender from the same era.
