If you want a great 2003 Gibson Les Paul 1959 R9 Historic with a fabulous top with beautiful color, here is your guitar. The top is great from ANY angle, and is the main reason I bought it and put it up. This is a NO apology guitar, that I bought personally from Elliot Michaels of Rumble Seat Music in Ithaca NY, when it was just a couple years old. No fading, plays great, sounds great, medium weight, all original, no dents, no touch ups, no finish missing, neck is straight, frets are 98% like new, set up is great and the guitar is ready to go. Very Nice plush original cali girl reissue case with no wear. The guitar needs nothing and will not disappoint. I have the original certificate of Authenticity but no other case candy. As most of you probably know, 2003 is a very good year for the Historic R9’s and the first 600 guitars made in this series in 2003 had an authentic Brazilian Rosewood fret board, This guitar is “around” the 900 serial number and while it does not have a “certified” Brazilian board, this one looks very much as such in grain and figure to me. I have 2 standing offers on it privately and a guitar show to attend, as well as several dealers who are seriously interested in it as well. I have owned it for over 10 years and never played it but a few times. Never taken out of my smoke free, pet free home. Again, all components of this guitar are original and in excellent condition. In my critical opinion, there is no such thing as a “perfect” guitar , but this one is as close as you will ever come for a 13 year old guitar. Again, this guitar is as good as I have seen without being mint and I have described this guitar to the very best of my ability and knowledge. It simply needs nothing except to be enjoyed and played. It has sat in the original case now for over a decade, with no light and as a result is very much like new. Any discoloration on the pic of the back is due to shadows in my photography with a cheap camera. The red is very even and vibrant. Good luck and thanks for looking.
