Please see other items in my collection on Gbase: Greenwood Vintage Guitars. This rare guitar, sometimes referred to as an SG Special, was constructed after mid-year 1958 (inception of double-cutaway bodies) and most probably completed in 1960 (potentiometer date code 134 6027 27th week of 1960). In other respects, this instrument conforms to the typical specifications of the model for the period in which it was made with mahogany early style double-cutaway slab body (differing from SG models of 1961 and onwards), cherry red finish, multi-ply beveled-edge black pickguard, two black plastic covered soap bar single-coil P-90 pickups, wrap-around style bridge-tailpiece, mahogany neck, classic open-book peghead shape, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays and single-ply white binding, pearl Gibson peghead logo, nickel-plated metal hardware. The guitar is currently housed in a Hondo hard shell case. The above description, as with all of the items in my collection, is based upon a professional inspected by Gruhn Guitars.
