Up for sale, a 1961 Gibson ES-125TD in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. 100% original aside from an ABR-1 bridge for better top end response and optimal intonation, this guitar is a quintessential example of golden-era Gibson build quality and tone. Tonally, there’s plenty to love here, with an acoustic voice that is b. Ig and bold, with surprising projection and a sweet, wooly resonance. Characteristics are readily apparent in the electrified signal as well. The guitar is also featherweight at only 5lbs 10oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and dialed in with 11-50 roundwound strings, this ES-125TD is ready for stage and studio work. The one-piece Honduran mahogany neck has that classic slim’61 profile with minimal taper up the neck and modest shoulders. 802 deep at the first fret and. 908 at the 10th fret before the profile begins to transition into the heel. Have their full factory height, with notable wear on frets 1-3, particularly beneath the plain strings, and lighter wear beneath the plain strings until fret 8. The guitar plays cleanly in every register with a straight neck and responsive truss rod. The original nut measures 1 11/16 in width, and the headstock retains both the original truss rod cover and the stock Kluson Deluxe single-line tuning machines with replaced white buttons. On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, and through the treble side F hole, the stock wiring harness can be seen. The “ES-125TD” stamp and factory order number are also visible through the F holes. The original reflector cap knobs are intact, as is the stock nickel tailpiece, compensated, carved Brazilian rosewood bridge base, and single-ply tortoise pickguard. The bridge itself is a modern Gibson ABR-1 which adds significant top end detail and intonation flexibility over the stock rosewood saddle. Cosmetically, this guitar will satisfy discerning collectors with a vibrant and 100% original sunburst finish that shows zero touchup or overspray. There are two tiny mounting holes on the top from a previously installed Bigsby, modest buckle rash on the back which doesn’t penetrate the finish, and a few chips around the headstock edges. The guitar exhibits light vertical lacquer checking on the top and back, with some scattered small, inconsequential nicks and scuffs on the body as a whole. The guitar has zero cracks or repairs and is a well-kept, structurally sound, and professionally setup example. A tweed hardshell case is included.
