It plays and sounds exactly like a dream–the neck is one piece mahogany and is the fatter 59 neck with 1 11/16ths nut–the case is in great shape inside with a few worn spots outside. The guitar itself has been played–there are pick marks above and below the strings and on the guard–there are some mild wormings on the back but not through to the wood–some of the hardware has dimmed over the 40 years-there are a couple minor finish cracks that are very hard to see but essentially no checking–the nitro finish is the rare ferrari red and is in beautiful shape–hard to photograph without reflections–as mentioned the original hang tags–registration and checklist and keys to the case are included–the Brazilian Rosewood board is in wonderful shape and is one of the darkest i’ve seen–the frets are in good shape with perhaps 70% life left and plenty of meat for recrowning if desired–the guitar plays up and down the neck without buzzing and with no dead spots. This is a beautiful example of the first year of issue for the es-335 dot series that will make any professional musician very happy. Tim Shaw PAF humbuckers. Single piece mahogany neck. Under the subtitle above “condition” there is a remnant from an earlier guitar that i missed when using that as a template–sorry for any confusion but i assume by the photographs it’s clear that was a mistake. Also it should be noted that this is a second from the factory as seen in the back of the headstock scan–the only possible explanation for this is the very small finish cracks mentioned in the description which are likely native to the guitar and caused it to be a “second” — the top is of course laminate as are all 335s so no crack goes into the wood and the two mentioned were nearly impossible to photograph being so small.
