This is a much sought after 1964 Vox AC30 ser No: 15499 B with the rare smooth charcoal covering which was only used by JMI for about two months in 1964. The charcoal covering is original and looks good but with some usual scrapes and the odd small repair. The transformers are Parmeko and the speakers are blue Celestion. A previous owner had removed the original speakers with non-standard speakers but these have now been replaced with the proper blue Celestion Alinco G12s. The amp has been maintained and restored over the years very close to its original specification. Version 12 May 1964-July 1964. Two piece back, brown backed grill cloth with diamonds. One piece molded motif. Control panel cut through to back. Anodized escutcheon pan (some grey etched and filled panels). Black plastic vent louvers. 50 ohm cathode resistor circuit. Source: Vox Amplifiers – The JMI Years by Jim Elyea. The amp is in good working order, sounds great, is serviced and is PAT safety tested. Known work on the amp includes. Replacement replica grill cloth. Replacement blue Celestion speakers. Replacement replica corner protectors where broken. A few component replacements over the years. The voltage selector switch has been by-passed and hard wired to 240v but this can easily be changed to work at 110/115v.
