ORIGINAL GIBSON LES PAUL GUITAR. 1979 GOLD TOP STANDARD. SUPERB PLAYER, IN INCREDIBLE CONDITION THROUGHOUT. AND IN THE ORIGINAL CHAINSAW PROTECTOR CASE. STRAIGHT OUT THE SHOWROOM- A TIME CAPSULE EXAMPLE! THE GUITAR WHICH WAS IN STORAGE FOR DECADES, WAS BOUGHT A WHILE BACK AND USED ON SOME RECORDING SESSIONS, BUT NEVER GIGGED. IT PLAYS AND SOUNDS EXCEPTIONAL.. OK, a few things so you know what you are looking at here. FIRSTLY- IT HAS BEEN STAMPED’SECOND’ ON THE BACK OF THE HEADSTOCK. Stamped under the correct serial number (1st and 5th number confirming it is a 1979 model). We were told the original finish was not up to scratch so hence why it was probably stamped’SECOND’. We have had other’seconds’ over the years and in all cases it was the paint finish that made the guitar a second.. It was resprayed years ago , and as it has been hardly used, it looks like it is straight out the factory! TO CONFIRM – INCREDIBLE WITH NO MARKS AND BEAUTIFUL CREAMY PROPER GOLD FINISH LIKE THE 70s LES PAULS. Trust us there are ZERO issues anywhere on this guitar. IT’S A GENUINE 1979, with MAPLE NECK, ROSEWOOD BOARD AND IT IS A HEAVY OLD BEAST AS MANY WERE FROM THAT ERA We love them! THE ACTION IS LOW AND THE BOARD & INLAYS ARE PRISTINE. ALSO NOTE, THE’WIDER FLARE LONGER HEADSTOCK. Which gives the impression the Gibson logo is lower down, this is correct, in fact there are not many around of these style headstocks, but you can see them occassionally and this is typical of 1979 models. The headstock shows no dings or marks. Also note – The guitar has been refretted, and a top job done. The knobs, switch, and’Gibson’ stamped machine heads are all original, but we cannot verify if the bridge and tailpiece are as they are again.. THE BACK OF THE GUITAR IS ALSO IMMACULATE, JUST THE LIGHTEST INDENTATIONS BUT NO BUCKLE RASH AT ALL.. PROVING THIS GUITAR WAS NEVER ROAD TESTED OR GIGGED HARDLY AT ALL. THE ORIGINAL’CHAINSAW’ CASE ALSO FITS THE STORY PERFECTLY, AS IT TOO IS IN IMMACULATE CONDITION. Note – THE PREVIOUS OWNER REPLACED THE CATCHES, NO IDEA WHY, BUT OTHERWISE ITS NEARLY MINT. I bought it in March 2001 from the 2nd owner (who never gigged it) and with the exception of the top and frets. It was in exactly the same condition then as it is now -time warp. The bridge and stop bar were as new when I got it and I did not change them. The whole guitar was NOT resprayed. I had just the top painted by Dan MacPherson before he moved to British Columbia.
