Arguably the most iconic guitar of all time, the Fender Stratocaster has been instrumental in shaping the sound of popular music since its introduction in 1954. Highly versatile, the Stratocaster’s distinctive tones can be heard across multiple genres of music including country, blues, funk, and new wave. It’s the guitar of choice for a wide range of legendary artists including Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Hank Marvin, Dick Dale, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Nile Rodgers, Mike Oldfield, the Edge, Adrian Belew, David Byrne, Marshall Crenshaw and John Mayor. This is a vintage red Stratocaster made in the USA. Based on the serial number, I think it was manufactured in 1984. I believe to be all original, with what appears to be the original hard shell case, tags and tremolo bar. It is in good condition with minor wear, including a small crack in the pickguard (see third photo). While the serial number on the headstock indicates a manufacture year of 1984, the stamp where the neck joins the body appears to read “DEC 01 1986;” however, it is smudged and I’m not certain that’s what it says. This date indicates that it was probably one of the earlier units made at the Corona factory.
