Cherry Red finish, with block inlays – just like Clapton’s 1964, but manufactured a year earlier. You’ll find the typical vintage wear on this ES-335, including slight finish checking, scratches and dings. There is a slight amount of finish shrinkage around the neck join, and the fingerboard binding has cracked in a few places. The pickups are the original Patent number humbuckers with nickel covers, all pots are original. Of course it includes the solid wood block, the length of the body, which gives the instrument its renowned sustain qualities. I removed a non-factory Bigsby tremolo arm in 1969 and had the holes filled. The Cherry Red finish has retained a beautiful, deep red colour and is in generally fantastic condition. The finish has no hairline cracks which are commonly found in some guitars built around this period. The only non-original parts on this guitar are the tuners (Schaller) replaced decades ago, although the holes from the original tuners are still there – I could not be bothered having them filled. And the nylon saddles which were replaced with nickel after they disintegrated. It had a re-fret sometime in the 1970’s, and still has plenty of fret life. Overall the guitar presents beautifully, and has a fantastic tone that you would expect from a vintage instrument of this caliber. Includes Epiphone hardshell case.
