For sale is this wonderful first issue Fender Squier JV Stratocaster from 1982. I hesitate to use the term’rare’ but I think it’s fair to say that a guitar like this really doesn’t crop up that often. A piece of Fender history and one of the most desired JV guitars made. The quality of these JV Stratocasters goes without saying. As you can see from the small Squier logo on the headstock this is one of the first issues. This guitar also has the much sought after red fibre bottomed US pickups, these sell for quite a few quid on their own right and sound just wonderful. The guitar is in great condition for its age, it’s been played but not abused, by myself and the previous owner(s). The body edges are really very clean, there are a couple of very small marks on the forearm contour, I’ve tried to show them on a pic but they’re not easy to capture – really very minor. The only real finish chip on the whole thing is on the headstock and has taken a small part of the logo with it. It’s in completely original condition as far as I can tell, all solder joints appear to be completely original and the 3 way switch is still there. The neck is in great condition, the frets could do with a dressing in my opinion but it plays fantastically well. The neck shape is a very comfy medium C profile and played in beautifully. The sunbusrt finish is absolutely fab and, as you can see, there’s some pretty graining to be seen. As you can imagine the sounds are just fab, there’s really no explaining to be done to be honest. The guitar comes with the original gig bag, which are quite a rare find in themselves as they tend to go wandering over the years. One quick point, the pics show a few tiny fibres on the guitar, these are not flaws in the finish but just tiny fibres that brush off from the hard case it’s been stored in.
