Hello, this guitar was willed to me upon the death of my best friend, and unfortunately, I have to sell it. I believe it to be around 1974 the Gibson Dater is very vague about this serial number (923622). I have personally known the history of this guitar since John bought it around 1977. As was the rage during that time, John had the original Mini Humbuckers (Included by the way) replaced with Dimarzio Super Distortions. The job was done professionally by Mike Allison at Providence Guitar and Banjo in Providence RI and the routing is neat and minimal. A few years later, John replaced the Dimarzios with what I believe are Classic’57s. The mini toggle was disconnected inside, but was left there in case you wish to connect it again. At the same time this work was done, the guitar was refretted by PG&B, and the guitar plays terrific. Very very little fret wear, no buzzes or dead spots. The tuners were replaced along the way with the original type Klusons (Included) so no extra holes were drilled. This guitar has some very minor dents and dings, but nothing really through the finish, and the neck finish, although it has a few small scratches is completely intact – no areas at all where its worn down to the bare wood. A few belt buckle scars, but nothing major. This guitar is HEAVY, as were the LPs of that period. Sounds like a 70s LP should, loud and proud. Original case is included, but the handle is a bit wonky. I hate to part with this, but I have no use for it, as my Teles would be jealous. John really didn’t use the guitar much, as he was a Strat and Charvel guy. I’m offering this at no reserve. I realize it’s modified which might lower the value. On the other hand, the guitar is ready to play, needs nothing, no repairs done and none needed. If you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them to your satisfaction. If you nee3d more pics, I’ll be happy to send them. Hello again, after doing lots of research last night, I’m convinced this Les Paul is either 1969 or 1970. This guitar cannot be any later than 1971. The item “Vintage Les Paul Goldtop Deluxe Standard Conversion” is in sale since Friday, May 20, 2016.
