Other than a very fine fret job done decades ago this guitar is all original including the case–the t-tops are legendary for a reason and you hear that as soon as you plug it in but the guitar is also very resonant acoustically–the wood has aged beautifully so the sound is unique as it is with every custom–this one has a very sweet sustain and deep almost dry bite although all of this can be altered with peripherals of course. Cosmetically the scans represent it well–there’s a ding/burn perhaps by the strap pin seen in two of the scans–there’s some binding cracks on the headstock which are also pictured–a few other places as well for the binding but it is solid and not loose–just aged. There are various nicks and dents and signs of playing over the instrument–neck–and front as seen–none of them affect playing–the hardware has some tarnishing–the fretboard is real ebony of course and in excellent condition and the fret job is professional with medium frets that give the guitar a very delicate touch–it’s a great lead instrument and my friends shred on it and say it’s the best–i’m a blues player primarily but this guitar can do metal and rock and with the right pedals and settings it can do jazz as well. The case is original gibson logo case in good condition inside and out with one latch that works but has to be jiggled then it’s okay. For a 45 year old instrument it’s in wonderful shape with an unusual burst that has more brown/violet in it than the usual sunburst. The sound is exactly what you want with an early 70s lp custom–it nails that sound. Please ask any questions and i’ll do my best to answer them–my luthier goes over every guitar i sell out of my collection so it is very rare there are any hidden surprises–he is a true luthier who builds his own guitars and who worked for Guild all through the 70s so his final approval is valuable to me and gives me confidence when offering an instrument.
