Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This vintage Pre-CBS Strat is an mid-1962 example with a Brazilian rosewood fretboard and original black bobbin pickups, 100% original save for a hand-carved bone nut and body-only professional nitro lacquer refinish in Seafoam Green courtesy of Riggio Custom Guitars. The “in-between” positions on the switch are snappy and jangling, and the guitar is extremely resonant, offering a n. Atural acoustic tone that is particularly warm, smooth, and balanced, with a sweet, sparkling treble register. Quite simply, this 1962 Stratocaster is very representative of the reverence afforded the “Pre-CBS” era. The guitar weighs 7lbs 10oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-50 strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a. Modestly slender C profile carve at the nut with appreciable heft and generous shoulder in the higher registers, filing out to the significant chunk of many 63 Strat profiles, yet staying effortless and fast-feeling for chording at the nut. 835 deep at the 1st fret and. 1.020 at the 12th. The extremely dark Brazilian rosewood fretboard sports original clay dots and rolled edges, retaining the original slender frets which have been leveled and crowned and currently show virtually no wear. A new bone nut has also been carved, measuring 1 5/8 in width. On the headstock, the original single line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines are intact, showing heavy patina and still functioning as intended. Along with the original Stratocaster decal, the headstock also features a couple vintage waterslide decals easily identifiable by any Hot Rod enthusiast, as these eyes were used to advertise Moon hubcaps. On the body, all of the electronics work as they should with a trio of original black bobbin pickups which all retain their original windings, metering at. 5.71k ohm in the bridge position, 5.86k in the middle, and 5.62k at the neck. Lawless example with sparingly little shrinkage and no breaks or undue warping. The tremolo backplate is a modern replacement. The vibrato unit is 100% stock and complete with pat. Pending saddles and the original trem block. Currently utilizing five springs, the vibrato actuates surprisingly easily, with a notably touch sensitive response and stability. From quick flutters to more drastic dives, this vibrato unit works just as designed and the trem block is an integral part of a Strat’s sustain and tonal character. The body features a professional body-only refinish courtesy of Riggio Custom Guitars in one of Fender’s rarest custom colors, Seafoam Green. This shade of Seafoam is. Saturated and bold with yellowing of the clear coat further pushing the color in the green direction and hints of the unaged bluer tint where the forearm crosses the top and at the belly contour via simulated light body wear. The body shows no wear save for the tight horizontal lacquer checking and light simulated relic treatment applied by Riggio to match the original neck finish. The nitro lacquer on the neck profile and headstock is original, deeply ambered with. Natural palm wear down to the smooth, bare maple behind frets 1-8. This is truly a fantastic Strat in every sense of the word, and the black bobbin pickups resonating through an old alder body and slab Brazilian rosewood board is truly something to behold. The strong acoustic character of the instrument translates perfectly through your favorite Tweed or Blackface amp, and this Strat chimes and sparkles with the best. Very original, meticulously examined and ready to be played, this Strat is not to be missed! A modern Fender G&G hardshell case is included.
