1972 Fender Telecaster Natural. In Natural finish with original vintage Fender hard shell case. I bought this while in the UK, roughly 13 years ago, from a dealer in the US. From a collectors perspective, this Telecaster is a dream come true. I have owned lots of 70s Fenders, but I have never owned a cleaner or better preserved instrument than this. It is not untouched, and has clearly been played, but its use has been minimal and there is no question that the majority of the life of this guitar has been spent in storage. The Natural finish is original, and shows no signs of fading. There are a few very minor dings on the body, and the worst is a small dent to the back of the neck, but even this is quite minor. There is a thin line of lacquer staining on the top of the neck between the 2. Frets, no doubt caused by acid sweat from the players thumb, but again, it is very minor. There is virtually no buckle rash, and no other scratches or marks of significance. Fret wear is minimal, again indicating that this guitar has been played very little in the last 48 years. The white pickguard has not shrunk and there is none of the usual cracking around the pickguard screws. The neck is stamped 3 OCT 72B, and the neck pocket has all the right stamps, including a stamp confirming that the guitar was NATURAL from the factory. Some records suggest Natural was not a standard colour in 1972, and would have been a custom order. The maple fingerboard is in fantastic condition, with no significant signs of wear. The chrome work on the guitar is as new, including the original ash tray bridge cover, and the bridge plate, control knobs, switch hat and Fender tuners are all period correct and in excellent condition. As far as I can tell, everything on this guitar is original, and in exceptionally fine condition. It is so unusual to find instruments from this era in such pristine condition, making this a dream instrument for both collectors and discerning players. The Fender hardshell case is correct for the year, and is in excellent condition, showing only light wear externally, and with a very clean interior. All hinges and catches work as expected. The Fender logo is period correct, and in excellent condition. I have tried to capture the overall condition of this stunning vintage instrument in the photos, so please look closely at the detailed images. The dog loves this Tele, because it matches his coat! Please note: the dog is not included! Look what buyers of my guitars are saying. I can’t put it down. Great guitar very well packed. Very honest in every detail. I will love it will all my heart I promise that. Hopefully goes to the grave with me : I cant thank you enough for letting this one go. My favorite guitar ever! The guitar arrived safely. Thank you so much. This item is part of my own personal collection. I have been motivated by a desire to own, handle and play, guitars and amplifiers that, when I was younger, I could never have afforded to own. With the collection now in storage, I dont get to appreciate them often enough to justify keeping so many great instruments to myself. I have therefore decided to pass on the majority of my collection, in the hope that others may get as much pleasure from these instruments as I have over the years. The guitars are in storage and are not immediately accessible, but if there are specific photos you would like to see, please ask. I always strive to provide a balanced and accurate description, together with detailed photos for you to form your own view. But these vintage guitars are 40+ years old, and I have not owned any of them from new, so there is always an element of risk, as there was for me when I bought them. But please bear in mind these are well used, vintage instruments, and their condition will in general reflect that fact.
