Travel back in time with this classic electric guitar. Made in early 1987 by Gibson at its old Nashville, Tennessee factory. It’s a Gibson SG Les Paul Custom/SG’62 Custom. According to the Gruhn book, Gibson changed the model name from “SG’62 Custom” to “SG Les Paul Custom” in 1987. It is an awesome guitar. The original antique ivory white finish has evenly aged into a mellow yellow. The tuners have been replaced with modern Kluson Gibson Deluxe single-lines. The back of the headstock is stamped MADE IN U. With the serial number 80547638. Two of the four date codes on the CTS are fully visible, 1378650, for December 1986. The headstock is also stamped SEC because it was apparently a factory second for some minor, now unknown, cosmetic flaw. It has ordinary age and use wear, with various little scratches, metal finish wear, and what not. No cracks or anything like that. It’s in solid structural condition. There’s a knick in the finish on the bass side of the headstock a half-inch from the nut. The first three frets have some wear, but have lots of life left. The fretboard is in good shape. It comes in the original Gibson hard case. The outside of the case is a bit worn. The case is lined with pink fake fur. The case handle and all the latches and hinges work fine. The previous owner had it for decades and treated it like a baby. Her name was Morgan, and she loved it. Look, I sell lots of guitars. I don’t usually say this. But this is a GREAT guitar. I’ve been playing it today, and it just sings. It can be played with a lot of natural sustain. The neck plays well. It’s the real thing. It’s a great All-American guitar, ready to play.
